It is possible to do yoga when you are older, but you may need to modify some of the moves in order to keep your balance. Yoga can be done anywhere, but some people may prefer to do yoga at home rather than going to a class. This gives them more flexibility with their schedule. There are plenty of instructional DVDs on yoga that you can follow along with at home, some available for free at your local library.
There are many different styles of yoga. Hatha yoga is one of the most common types of yoga, but Kundalini and Bikram are also popular. All three types will help you improve your flexibility and strength.
The main thing to remember when starting yoga is to take it slow and avoid any positions or moves that cause pain. How To Do Yoga For Seniors over 70 – Yes, Yoga Can Help Seniors over 70 Feel Better And Improve Their Health!
I’m a 74-year-old female and I did yoga up to the age of 70. Two years ago I had two back surgeries and after that, it was hard for me to do some poses. But when you get older you can make adjustments for your limitations. It’s very helpful for me to do yoga to stretch and strengthen my legs. I’m still at a good level of health even though I have a few limitations. But it’s worth any effort if you can find an instructor who is willing to adjust their classes for older participants or to make some changes in order that you’ll be able to learn the poses.
As with many things in life, the more you practice yoga, the better it is the better you’ll get and the more benefits from it you will experience. Yoga is not only about doing asanas (poses) but also about breathing properly and living mindfully. If you take all this into consideration then yoga will become a very helpful tool for staying healthy as you age.
